There in
the gnarled old tree, what did I find?
Gory old eyeballs trying to drive me from my mind.
Scary to look at that was for sure.
I prayed to my God to let me endure.
Hoping to have just a little fun,
Wondering instead if I should turn and run.
I almost hollered out for my mother,
Hairs standing up on my neck, is there another?
Craggily old trees that are still having fun,
Scaring the dickens out of us as we run.
Sure was glad, it was just the eyes.
If it had been arms you would have heard cries.
Happy Halloween!
